Being Muslim is a free class that will cover the essential aspects of Islam from the most basic level. Whether just curious about Islam, newly practicing, or a lifelong Muslim who would like a refresher – all are welcome to attend.

No background knowledge is required to attend and all questions are welcome.

Together, in a relaxed and friendly environment, we will cover a wide variety of subjects that will give learners not simply a collection of facts, but an understanding of the vision and spirit of Islam.

Topics will include:
- The purpose of life and why we are here
- Why God sent prophets
- How to learn more about Islam
- Destiny and fate
- Basic Muslim belief
- How to pray and fast
- Morality in everyday life
- Acquiring spiritual purity
- The life of the Prophet Muhammad

End of class BBQ~Potluck!

To celebrate the conclusion of the class, we will be hosting a BBQ-potluck on Tuesday, June 29th! Being Muslim has been a wonderful opportunity for many of us to grow, meet new people, and make new friends. Whether you attended every class, or none at all, please join us with your family and friends!

If you able, please feel free to bring any food, drinks, or supplies! (Note: Out of respect for everyone we are humbly requesting that only halal food/zabiha meat is brought to the BBQ. If you need info on markets that sell halal meat, please email us.)

Whether you attend regularly, or just heard about the class for the first time, these are two classes you wont want to miss.

We will continue with the next class, this Friday, May 28th @ 7:00pm. We will end at Maghrib prayer (Sunset ~8:40). Please arrive early so we can start @ 7pm sharp.

The session of Being Muslim will cover aspects of the Quran – God’s final revelation to humanity. Subjects covered will include:

The miraculous nature of the Quran
The arrangement of the Quran
The Quran in our lives
Key concepts in the Quran
The major themes of Quranic content
Overviews of the most significant passages

Even if you have never been to Being Muslim before, now is a great place to start! All are welcome! Dont be shy.

Finally, as always, be sure to park on the opposite side of the street to avoid a parking ticket. Carpooling is encouraged (send an email to the group if you need one).
